Vaginal Sexual Health
Vaginal sexual health refers to surgical/laser techniques used to enhance or restore sexual satisfaction or improve the appearance of the genitals.
When estrogen levels decline, many changes occur. Millions of women experience symptoms such as vaginal dryness, itching, burning, urinary incontinence or painful intercourse as a consequence of these changes. Many women suffer silently, and those who seek treatment find their options limited to estrogen therapy, which is not for everyone.
MonaLisa Touch laser treatment is a simple procedure that takes less than 5 minutes. It delivers gentle laser energy to the vaginal tissue wall that stimulates a healing response and enhanced moisture levels in the vaginal canal. A typical course of treatment is three procedures over 12 weeks. Many women report symptom relief after the very first treatment and even greater improvement after treatments 2 and 3. It is clinically proven to work.

Vaginal relaxation is laxity of the vagina and vulva, the “pelvic floor” which can occur after vaginal delivery or with genetic weakness of these muscles. It can be associated with difficulty in bladder control or emptying or with difficulty in defecation. Many women, and their partners, complain of decreased sexual gratification as the entrance to the vagina becomes wider with less muscle tone.
Vaginoplasty refers to surgery designed to restore the vaginal area to the tightness and appearance it had before childbirth.
Some women have problems due to the size of the labia, the outer lips of the vagina. In some cases, the problem is purely cosmetic but in others, the size of the lips can cause discomfort when wearing jeans or tight underwear or when engaged in activities such as horseback riding or bicycling. Occasionally, they can also cause pain with sex if the labia are so large that they fold into the vagina.
Labioplasty is the procedure used to reduce the size of the labia or lips.

For some women, for religious or other reasons, integrity of the hymen is important. Hymen reconstruction involves closing the hymen across to form a virginal type opening to the vagina.
These procedures are performed under light general or local anesthesia as an outpatient. After a short time of observation, the woman is discharged home with oral pain medication and generally can resume sexual activity in three to four weeks.
